Recycle your coolant, on the spot
The Freddy Ecovac is a mobile, steel-built coolant recycler. Using vacuum power and an independent pump, it sucks coolant and chips out of machine tool tanks, beds, oil pans, conveyors and even the shop floor, filters it, and returns it continuously. It works with both water-based and oil-based coolants.

Why the Ecovac
Lower coolant and disposal costs
Dirty coolant is filtered and returned to the machine, so you buy less new coolant and send less waste liquid for treatment.
Better productivity and quality
Removing chips and solids from the coolant reduces wear on the machine tool and helps keep the machined surface clean.
Continuous recycling
The only model in the Freddy coolant vacuum range that vacuums out and returns coolant at the same time, using an independent pump.
Cleaner working environment
Clean coolant and a vacuumed floor mean fewer spills and less contaminated fluid around operators.

Features
- Continuous suction and discharge: vacuum out and pump back at the same time.
- Built-in filter: a separate filter section collects up to 37 litres of chips and solids, and can be removed easily.
- Overflow protection: a float mechanism stops suction automatically when the tank is full. The pump keeps discharging in the meantime.
- Wheels and casters: the unit can turn 360 degrees within a space equal to its own length.
- Chassis: an optional lower chassis for forklift transport is available for all models.
- Paint and hoses: all paintwork and hoses meet UK standards for oil and acid resistance.
- Coolant tanks, machine beds and oil pans of machine tools
- Conveyors
- Fully synthetic, semi-synthetic and neat oil coolants
Application examples
Fastener manufacturer, UK
Cooper & Turner: cutting oil use down by 48%
Cooper & Turner makes bolts, nuts and washers for wind, railway, tunnelling, oil and gas, and structural uses. It runs on neat cutting oil. After it began using a Freddy vacuum, the barrels of cutting oil it needed fell sharply over 12 months.
The payback figure leaves out time saved and health and safety benefits. The result was obtained with a Freddy Midi.

Maycast-Noakes: a cleaner, safer machine shop
This Essex subcontractor runs 10 CNC machining centres and 3 lathes, mostly on non-ferrous aerospace and defence work. It uses Freddy vacuums alongside its supplier's water-soluble cutting fluid, and reports a cleaner and safer shop floor.
The fluid supplier explains the benefit of an Ecovac-type unit: instead of stopping the machine to remove swarf and flush the fluid away, it extracts the swarf, filters the coolant and pumps it back in minutes. Less fluid is thrown away, and sump life is extended.

Challenge, solution and results

About Freddy
Freddy was established in 1962 and first supplied the UK and USA with its Mark I filtration machines. Since then it has designed and built a family of industrial vacuums and coolant filtration machines, from the compact Superminor to the robust Mark 5. All are designed to remove, filter and return coolant so it lasts longer and machining results improve.
Freddy values longevity: it reports Mark I machines still working in heavy industry after more than 35 years. Its UK customers include Kennametal, Houghton, BAE Systems, Rolls-Royce and Unilever.
